Returns & Refunds Policy

 

This Returns and Refunds Policy (“Policy”) forms part of our Terms and Conditions. All capitalised terms herein shall bear the same meaning as defined in the Terms and Conditions, unless the context indicates otherwise. Nothing in this Policy is intended to limit your statutory rights in any way under the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) or any other applicable South African law.


1. COOLING-OFF PERIOD

In accordance with Section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, 25 of 2002, you are entitled to cancel your online purchase without reason or penalty within seven (7) days of receiving your order.

To exercise this right, the product must be:

  • New, unopened, unused, and undamaged, and
  • Returned in its original packaging, complete with all labels, accessories, and documentation.

You will be responsible for the direct cost of returning the item to Ideal World, unless otherwise agreed.

Provided that the product meets these conditions, you will receive a full refund within ten (10) working days of cancellation.

We reserve the right to reject any return where the product’s condition does not comply with these requirements.


2. PRODUCT RETURNS PROCEDURE

If you are dissatisfied with a product purchased from www.smartgames.co.za, you may return it within seven (7) days of delivery for a refund, credit, or exchange, subject to the following conditions:

Eligibility Criteria

Returned items must be:

  • Unopened, unused, and undamaged, with original seals, labels, and stickers intact;
  • In the original undamaged packaging; and
  • Complete with all parts, accessories, and documentation.

Return Process

  1. Complete the Contact Us Form available on our Website under the “Contact Us” section.
  2. Carefully package the product, ensuring adequate outer protection for transit.
  3. Our customer service department will coordinate collection of the product from your nominated address using one of Ideal World’s authorised courier partners.
  4. Once received by Ideal World, your return will be inspected within 3 to 5 working days. You will be notified once your return is approved or declined.

If approved, refunds or exchanges will be processed in accordance with this Policy.

The direct delivery and collection costs incurred by Ideal World will be deducted from the refundable amount where applicable.


3. REFUNDS

Once your refund has been authorised and processed, you will receive written confirmation via email. Refunds will be made using the same payment method used during the original purchase.

Refunds typically take between 5 and 10 working days to reflect, depending on your financial institution.

To process an EFT refund, you may be required to provide:

  • A copy of your valid South African ID, and
  • Proof of banking details (such as a bank confirmation letter).

Ideal World shall not be liable for bank charges, interest, or processing fees associated with refunds.

4. EXCHANGES

You may request to exchange a returned product for another product of equal or greater value.

  • If the new product is more expensive, you will be required to pay the difference in price.
  • If the replacement product is of a lower value, an electronic credit coupon will be issued for the difference.

Such coupons will be redeemable exclusively online at www.smartgames.co.za and will remain valid for 6 (six) months from the date of issue.


5. DEFECTIVE PRODUCTS

A product will be considered defective if it exhibits a manufacturing fault, material flaw, or design defect, or if it was not reasonably suitable for its intended purpose when supplied.

If you believe a product is defective:

  1. Complete the Contact Us Form on our Website, including a clear description of the defect.
  2. Return the product following our standard returns procedure.

Once received, the product will be evaluated by a qualified technician or supplier.
If the product is confirmed defective within six (6) months of purchase, we will, at our discretion:

  • Repair the product,
  • Replace it with an equivalent item, or
  • Provide a full refund of the purchase price.

If the returned product is found not to be defective, you will be responsible for all transport and handling costs related to its collection and re-delivery.


6. NON-RETURNABLE PRODUCTS

The following items cannot be returned or refunded unless found defective under law:

  • Products damaged by misuse, negligence, or improper handling;
  • Items not returned in their original condition or missing parts;
  • Products marked as “non-returnable” or “final sale”;
